What You Can Expect
Kaituna Cascades is the Kaituna River’s original rafting company, and we’re the closest company to the river. We have lots of off-street parking and chill out areas for you to enjoy in stunning natural surroundings. We are based in Okere Falls, Rotorua, and the Okere Scenic Reserve backs onto our white-water rafting base. So, there are plenty of walking trails nearby.
When you book with us, there are no long bus rides to get from the rafting company to the river as we are right there. There will be no standing around in wetsuits waiting to get started or any other unnecessary delays either. Instead, we’ll get you kitted out, we’ll give you the information you need, and we’ll get out onto the rapids.
Speaking of those rapids, on the Kaituna River and our other local rivers, the rapids range from grade two to five. There are waterfall drops, including the thrilling seven-metre drop at Tutea Falls. Introducing the Rivers
At Kaituna Cascades, it’s all about the rivers. Whether you are in Auckland, Waikato, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, or even Wellington, the rapids here are among the best outdoor family, corporate, or group attractions and activities you will find. Here’s a brief introduction to our rivers.
Kaituna River
The Kaituna River is the one everyone talks about, not least because of Tutea Falls – a seven-metre drop into the swirling water and spray before you pop out into calm water. The river also has amazing rapids, from gentle sections up to faster flowing and more technical grade 5 sections. Between the rapids, you’ll be able to enjoy calm waters as well as New Zealand’s nature at its best.
Wairoa River
Wairoa River is a thrilling adventure whether you’ve experienced white-water rafting before, or this is your first time. The rapids include Mother’s Nightmare, The Rollercoaster, The Waterfall, the Bottom Drop, and the Devil’s Cauldron. Cool names for an even cooler white-water rafting experience. When you book with us at Kaituna Cascades, you’ll experience all the rapids that the Wairoa River has to offer as we run the entire river on our trips.
Rangitaiki River
The highlights include Fantail Falls, Tautika, and Pop Up, as well as the foaming and exhilarating grade 4 Geoff’s Joy.There is also stunning natural scenery to enjoy on the Rangitaiki River in the calmer waters between the rapids, and we offer a range of adventures on the Rangitaiki River, including a half-day trip.
